If you are what you eat...then I'm a chicken!

My Older brother and my sister wrote in their blog, about all the great food they had over the Easter holidays. For fun I made my own list:

Thursday: Pasta with Chicken (my own "famous" recipe).
Friday: Chicken pita
Saturday: Chicken salat
Sunday: Chicken Sandwich
Monday: very little actually

Here is another list over what else I did becides stuffing my face with chicken:
Thursday: RNR - TV mostly.
Friday: Nothing at all! In the evening I watched The Incredibles on DVD
Saturday: Played golf with tree of my friends, and then met my good friend Johanna for som coffee and beer. We then had dinner together...all in all a fantastic day :).
Sunday: Went to Mass to sing with my choir. Coffee and cakes afterwards(no chicken) and in the evening I went with my friend Steinar to see the movie Finding Neverland with Johnny Depp...great movie! Had a little night on the town after that...back home in the early hours of the next day!!
Monday: slept late...and then back to work in the evening!
I also did some other stuff in the weekend...but NO WAY I'm telling YOU about it ;)

Not The Nine O'clock News!

Well, this is it! No turning back. I have resigned from my job at the Palace Hotel and am going to Iceland this summer to work. I've got a job at Hotel Reynihlíd at Myvatn in the north of Iceland. I start on June the first and work there through September. After that: South America here I come!

My band Hekkenfeld will be out with a brand new CD on the 14th of May and there will be a big release party at Sumpen in Øresundskollegiet at the same date. It will without a doubt be great fun! More info later!

My weekend has been rather quiet apart from a concert with Emiliana Torrini on saturday night. It was amazing to say the least. I was mesmerized by her voice almost all the time except maybe when she told drunken stories of herself in between numbers. Quite funny though.

Choir Festival

Last Friday, our Icelandic choir here in Copenhagen took on a trip to Gothenburg, Sweden to meet other Icelandic choirs from other Countries. After a 4 hour trip in a bus (some of us singing all the way...Irritating the hell out of the other passengers) we checked in a youth hostel in Gothenburg. The next day, we started rehearsing and rehearsed of and on for about 7 hours. I had not managed to get any sleep the night before so I was really tired. Drank a lot of coffee that day. The concert was at 5:00 pm and all in all were a great success. Even though we were missing tenors and I had to suddenly sing the tenor voice (I usually sing bass) in my choir, everything went according to plan. In the evening there was a big party for all the choirs. There was entertainment from all the choirs and me and two others from the Copenhagen choir did a little play about a drunk Icelandic person in Copenhagen. Great fun. After dinner and dancing some of us carried on into Gothenburg city center to check out the night live. I came back to the hostel around 6:00 in the morning...not leaving much time for sleeping before we had to check out.
We took the bus to Copenhagen around 3:00 pm and were back around dinner time. I managed to rest for 2 hours before going to work that night and believe me when I say it was a hard night! Well this is it for know...looking forward to having next weekend off so I can relax and get my strength back after a tough but really great trip. Until next time, chao amigos :)

The rebel in me!

I just bought this film on DVD and must say that it is phenomenal.
Motorcycle Diaries tells the story of a young 'Che' Guavara when he, along with his friend from medical school, decides to take a motorcycle trip from Argentina (his home country) to Venezuela. This trip becomes a big factor in his life and helps him find out what he wants to do with the rest his life. I also recently read his diary from the last 1½ year of his life, where he leads a guerilla group in the mountains of Bolivia. A very interesting read. He was captured 1967 and murdered in captivity by orders from the CIA.

I just bought this really good CD from Emiliana Torrini, and I really don't know how to begin to describe it. It is a pearl of a CD. I love to listen to it with my headphones and just disappear into the beautiful, soft tones. Her voice is that of an angel. The CD is called fisherman's Woman and is a must for every music loving person. I will be seeing her in concert next Saturday and am really looking forward to it :).

Talking about guerrillas, I might as well mention the last book I read: For whom the Bell tolls by Ernest Hemingway. It is a masterpiece. It tells us about the Civil war in Spain where The republicans are planning to bomb a bridge behind enemy (fasist) lines that might change the war to their advantage. Probably one of the best book I have read in my lifetime.

This weekend I am going to Gothenbourg, Sweden for a bi-annual choir festival, and I'll tell you all about it soon. :)

Turning up the heat

It has been very cold here in Copenhagen for the last few weeks and last week the temperature fell down to -15 below zero, and there was plenty of snow (for Denmark that is). Fortunately I got a very warm Icelandic sweater for Christmas so I was quite comfortable. We were very busy at work because of all the cancelled flights and had a fully booked hotel for almost a week. The Danes are quite bad to deal with the winter weather, and when it snows, they panic. We should send them to Iceland for a while so they can learn how to deal with snow!! ;). But now it is getting warmer, and hopefully the spring is just around the corner :)
